My Story
I am a Wellington based artist who uses art as a form of meditation - slowing down to observe the beauty of the world and delight in the small details and the joy of creating.
I live in Wellington, with it’s wild wind, lush green hills, and vibrant creative community. I’m a widow with two young kids, and all together too many fur-babies (much loved). For years I have used my art as grounding practice through tough times. Slowing down, focusing on the minutiae of the natural world, finding joy in the small things, and beauty in the everyday. It’s like a therapy or meditation for me. I highly recommend everyone give it a go!
While I’m not prolific, it had been an incredible experience sharing some of my art with the world. It is a deeply personal thing, creating art, and while I would hope that my paintings could bring a smile and joy to your heart, it is totally ok if they are simply a pretty picture.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my space, to look at my art, and to read about my story.
My Art Journey
I don’t aim for perfection, in fact I love to allow elements of my process to show through. I work primarily in watercolour, but experiments in ink and charcoal are woven throughout my practice.
One of my early mantras was ‘progress, not perfection’. I take so much joy from seeing other’s creative journeys that I decided it was time to share my own. Those of you who have followed me on social media, first on my personal page and then later on my art page, will have seen how far I have come from those humble beginnings.
I look forward to seeing what progress I make going forward.
